Presentation of the hostelry
... Hostellerie : Lieu d'accueil du voyageur, says the Larousse dictionary... When Franck discovered the fireplace enthroned in the Knight's Hall, he only had one desire: To smell the ancestral odour of a woodfire, to roast meat and fish over it... or even better, to be lulled by the crackling noises of the fire whilst enjoying a good cigar... Meanwhile, Chantal was standing in the Knight's Hall with its ancient beams and found herself transported back to the times of troubadours and king's jesters. She pictured a boar roasting on the spit, and started to dream...
Now, ten rooms and one appartement are waiting for you to discover this tiny, preserved nook of Switzerland, at the heart of the canton Fribourg. In the summer, the shadowy lawn, the flower garden and the songbirds invite you to relaxation and idleness. In the shadow of the tall trees, a space for games for adults and children alike awaits you. Or maybe you'd prefer a game of pool at aperitif time...
In our permanent exhibition, Le Castel offers you the opportunity to discover the paintings of the artists of the region. Le Castel? Sweet day-to-day life in a postcard-picturesque scenery, where the riches of the past inspires the spirit of the present. Chantel Berset and Franck Schmück welcome you and are happy to share their moments of relaxation and high spirits with you. |
